Macy, Rossum starring in Showtime's `Shameless' (AP)

LOS ANGELES – The long-running British TV play "Shameless" is being blending for Showtime with William H. Macy as well as Emmy Rossum leading a cast.

The premium wire channel pronounced Thursday it's ordered 12 episodes of a series about a Chicago blue-collar family. The executive producers have been a drama's strange creator, Paul Abbott, as well as John Wells, whose credits embody "ER" as well as "The West Wing."

Allison Janney ("The West Wing") will have a repeated role.

Macy's drive-in theatre embody "Fargo" as well as "The Cooler," while Rossum starred in "The Phantom of a Opera."

Production begins late this summer. An air date was not announced.
